What’s the best part of any party? Dressing for the occasion! We know you’re as excited as we are about the roller-skating, retro music, and hang-loose vibe of Skate World’s Reunion Night skating party. But half the fun of a throwback party is getting into costume! Are you ready to disco, jam skate, and break out the tricks at next week’s adult skate night? Make sure you’re in the mood to groove with 70’s, 80’s, and 90’s apparel!
The Roller-Disco Era
Ah, the 70’s. A time of disco dancing and jam skating. A decade of smooth moves and glam clothing. If you’re going 70’s for Skate World’s Reunion Night, you’ll want to make sure to dress the part. Part your hair in the middle and feather it away from your face for a sleek 70’s ‘do. Break out your bellbottoms and layer gold chains under a polyester shirt, or ring in the disco era with short, shiny dresses with bell sleeves.
The Height of Hair (and Quad Skating)
If there’s one thing that was bigger than 80’s fashion, it was 80’s quad skating. Zip back to the era of shiny gold pleather and hair you could hide a house in. A few prerequisites for an 80’s skating party:
- The hair has to be bigger than your skates
- The bigger and shinier the earrings, the better
- Neon colors rule the rink (unless metallic is more your style)
Complete your ensemble by throwing a pair of highlighter pink (or green, or rainbow) legwarmers over your roller-skates.
A Rollerblade Kind of Life
The 90’s broke away from two decades of quad skating, bringing inline skating to the front of the skating scene. If you prefer inline to quad skating, embrace 1990’s style with high waisted jeans, bedazzled jackets, and a scrunchie (or three).
Reinvent retro with your own skating style. We can’t wait to see the costumes our skaters come up with! The party starts Monday, August 11th at 6pm.
